Koe no katachi 声の形- A Silent Voice

I just watched this masterpiece. I was thinking about writing in the title "Koe no katachi VS Kimi no na wa" but if just felt not right. First, because I did not even make a review of Kimi no na wa yet, and second, because it somehow gives me pain to rate one over another. Let' say that the topics and points of view in both movies were different. That said, Koe no katachi feels to me kind of more deep into the character's feelings. (Well of course, we are talking here about a story of feelings and interaction among people).

I said that Koe no katachi is such a masterpiece. I will explain now why. When I rate any story (may it be anime, manga, a movie, or whatever format) I normally value it for how deep are the feelings it stirs within me. So there we have this girl that can almost not hear. How she tries to fit with the other children, how she wants to be friends, how she never minds little things. How she does not want to be alone, like any other human being. In general the story is rather slow-paced but very intense in concepts and emotions.

Also we can see the bullying, something that is happening nowadays. How the difficulty to understand someone else can lead to this. And there we have one of the main topics of the story: Communication. If I have a barrier in my communication with the rest of the group, then they will not be able to understand. They are human beings, frightened creatures that become afraid of anything they cannot identify.

Well I do not think it is that easy to explain everything about this movie, but the powerful feeling of guilt, the big atonement for one's mistakes, and even the little thing that was never mistaken in the first place, yet she regretted her very own existence. All of this make this story so human and deep in our reality. If I watch this movie again I will probably write a different review. Like deeper in the understanding of the character's behaviors and feelings. Especially I would like to mention, I did not pay so much attention to the secondary characters, and yet they could have an interesting part of the story (like I did in my review of Golden Time).

Thanks for reading, see ya guys!  If you have feelings about this movie you would like to write, please do so :)

Golden Time is that good?

"Golden Time" is an anime based on a light novel series. I am not here to tell you the whole story, you can find that much anywhere else. The main heroine, Kaga Kouko, is kind of a yandere type or something approaching that. She is really cute and sweet and all that... but to be honest, I am writing today because I want to talk about some topics:

The secondary characters. More accurately, I would refer Oka Chinami. This girl is weird and lost most of the time. She is so passionate about the camera and recording, and so weak and frail... and... well, is the kind of character I would like to know more about. To be honest, one of the strong points of the novels lies in the descriptions. There's no doubt that there's big worth in reading this series of novels.

I have to say that this appreciation could come from the fact that this has been the second time I watched this series, and since I more or less remembered the main plot, let's say I payed some more attention to the other characters' issues.

I would like as well to address the special personalities of the characters. Tada Banri with his amnesia, Kouko as an emotionally dependent stalker, Yana-san with his stupid personality (the guy is just kind of shallow or wtf),  2D-kun (is he really just a secondary character without any weight in the plot? I kind of feel a little sorry for him, even without forgetting his role as glue of the friends' group), Oka Chinami (my god, that girl has serious personality issues, only her story was not developed up to such point, but in some aspect she could be kind of similar to Kushieda Minori from Toradora! --sorry to the fans for that haha--), and Linda (who always plays an important role but, how to say, for me she seems to be the most normal character among them all... maybe because she has to take care of Banri or sth like that, or it's just her personality).

I feel a little weird about this Oka Chinami, her story is seriously sad. She seems to be too naive and weak in front of people like Kouko who has a much stronger personality, she started being so happy at the beginning of the anime, but if feels like she can't be passionate about love like Kouko, also there is the possibility that she is more kind of a 'normal' girl, who compared to Kouko because of the context just fades as a poor secondary character that canrn't achieve too much for herself.

Without any trace of doubt, peculiar characters like these always help to have a good story.

At this stage -if not earlier- you should have realized this is my blog and I don't give a fuck, just write whatever I feel like, because precisely of that.

Other thing I wanted to talk about is that feeling I got in this kind of romantic animes, but not in all of them. I would say I felt this specially with 'True Tears' and a certain moment in this anime. In chapter 9, near the end, when Linda screams inside her purse. You can tell there is no freedom, even before that when Banri tells her they will always be together, you can tell they are under social and ethical rules. Let's say that very fact makes the whole situation even more dramatic. Something like: I feel so bad, but I know I have to do this and that, and do this in this way and in that way.
I guess you could feel these things maybe also with EF - a tale of memories, yeah, most probably.

Overall about Golden Time I will say it is a good anime, make you feel things but I have also to say that a very important point is the comical situations, that appear so often. Interesting characters with a story developing according to their evolution. It keeps you hooked somehow, to be honest Oka Chinami is like a pain in the ass, I want this girl to have a decent end...

If I were to complain about anything, let's say it would have been good having some further development of the secondary characters, and... why not? a tragic ending with Kouko out of control in yandere version, or some Romeo-Juliet, or maybe if Kouko had jumped off the bridge in a demented wish to be with Banri... Ah boy, that one would be so good!!

It is good enough as it is, though, for things can't be perfect as far as I know.

Long riders! makes you feel... so much?

Hi all, how is it going? I watched this little anime with no so high hopes, but like it happens sometimes, it surprised me. Simple, kind of plain, non-pretentious... so, what's then with this anime, how could it deal such a blow to you? The reason is, once again, the teachings, an immense value regarding moral lectures for teenagers, young and old ones! ;)

Kurata Ami is a plain, clumsy girl, with no particular drive in her life. She never got hooked on anything, or struggled like sick for anything before the start of the story. Kind of randomly she felt like trying cycling, because she saw somebody going so fast and thought "yeah, this could be cool".

With a beginning as shallow as that she takes up cycling with her friend Niigaki Aoi. She notices it feels great, things like the wind on her face, the (sooo slow :P) speed. It is like a piece of cake since there is no goal set, she is just meddling with her folding bike (she really named it Ponta-kun?? kind of clumsy-cute this girl, janaika?)

Due to this new hobby the two girls met other two new ones in the road, thanks to Ami's uselessness in the field!! haha these things... So, they met again by chance at school and started riding together... Needless to say, the level rised (just a little, since our main heroine was such a turtle on her bike...)

Well, Nacho, you are dragging it too long... otakus are impatient so just don't
write too much crap please!! XD shit this thing of the multiple personalities is kinda unsettling sometimes...

Well, the main (and maybe unreal) point is that they never ditched her for being (sooo) slow, up to the point to make a team!! She was so eager, because these friends helped her so much, that made something like 400 different sketches of possible uniforms for the team.

And in the race, where she was about to give up, they told her: "If you go slow, we will go with you. We will finish this together as a team, even if it has to be out of time! So clench your teeth and work hard for the team!" That, my friends, is one of the best teachings you can ever find nowadays in any media.
